How to Get Your Message Across
|
If
there is one subject on which everyone seems to need help it
is "communication." There is probably no one among
us who has not, at least once in our lives, blown an important
conversation. We say one thing; the other person hears another.
We think we are tactful; he gets his feelings hurt. Why do so
many conversations become emotional, get out of hand with no
warning, or end badly.
Two reasons: (1) We often lack basic communication skills (We
don't listen, or we misread nonverbal cues), and (2) We don't
know how to manage the discussion in order to get the results
we want.
In "How to Get Your Message Across," Bobbi Linkemer,
author of several books on communication skills, provides easy-to-understand,
easy-to-implement solutions to both problems. Imagine: you'll
get other people's messages, and they'll get yours. No more
misinterpretations, miscommunication, or missed opportunities
to connect.
